Arizona Grandkids!

Lone Survivor~

Just finished reading "Lone Survivor"~ It was such a good book! Some language I didn't like! I do not know how or why people use the Lord's name in vain!! It is just so not necessary! Regardless of your religion, if you believe in the Ten Commandments, which all churches believe in, you just shouldn't use the Lord's name in vain! Anyway, the book was wonderful~I can not believe the Navy Seals, and the training they go through--Which was all necessary in the end!

it's almost halloween!!

Well, because it's almost Oct 31st I'm sewing. Mallorie is really into Cleopatra! She watched it recently, and loved it. Had to get a book at the library, and have Misha read it to her! So, needless to say, Grandma had to make her a cleo dress! Ha! Kolby is going to be Indiana Jones--So I still have a jacket to make for him! Anabeth will be Jessie from Toy Story & Nolan some other little character from Toy Story, Storie & Kora will be Tinker Bell & Wendy--Trevor will be Rufeo & Cole-- Hook-- I think---Trenton wants to be something from Star Wars--not sure about Dane! Kade will be a Military Officer, and not sure about Emmie!! Too many grandkids!! ha!

Karter & More Kauai

This is Roy's--our favorite place to eat. They actually have one in AZ which we have never been to--But we've been to the one in Oahu and now Kauai--their food is wonderful and the service is unreal!!

This little house is available to rent for the week! It's only 10,500.00 per week--and a 650.00 for cleaning fees afterward!

Nolan & Big Sis, Anabeth!!

Myrle surfing---Guess I should have asked him to take off his shirt, and sandals==Ha!

Poor Karter got Poison Oak while on a scout camp out! He looks so miserable! Didn't want to go on the camp out in the first place--and now this!! I can just hear him complaining~ He wasn't even able to dress out and practice football!!

Beautiful Flowers

Kauai

I loved all the roosters!! Apparently in 1992 there was a hurricane which misplaced chickens & roosters--So, now they're wild--they are everywhere! We usually heard them crowing at 3am at our resort!! Great wake up call! ha! I couldn't believe all the different colors--

Kauai

Well, we are home from Kauai! I don't even know where to start~ It was beautiful! The people are wonderful, so kind & friendly--and why not? They live in Paradise. We attended church in a beautiful little chapel, with stained glass windows, and lots of windows and french doors, that were all open, with the wonderful ocean breezes flowing in---Can you just feel it?? We sang the opening song in Hawaiian--or I should say "they" sang it--They had it printed on the program, but I couldn't pronounce most of the words--something about my southern accent keeps me from doing this! Anyway, it was testimony meeting, so we got to hear from so many humble people--and the Stake president was really HOT---! ha! Just had to throw that in, so you all wouldn't think I was too churchy!
We went to a dinner and show at our resort--"South Pacific"==it was amazing! Always loved the movie, so it was fun seeing it--We drove around all the island that was drivable--you can actually only see 20% of Kauai by car--the rest by plane or helicopter!
In the middle of the island is a huge canyon--they call it their Grand Canyon---All the beaches are different--lots of lava flow rocks on the beaches--all different colors of sand depending which side of the island you're on.
Everyone has asked me which Island we've liked the best, and it's a hard call--they are all equally different and wonderful! Kauai is like the Hawaii of 40 years ago. Very slow--no freeways, shopping isn't wonderful--there are 2 McDonalds, 2 Burger Kings, 1 Safeway, 1 Walmart, 1 K-Mart, 1 Costco, 1 Home Depot--that's about it--The rest are local stores--which are fun to shop at-- Our resort was great, in a really good location~ only 4 miles from the airport, and centrally located to the things we wanted to see~
Many beaches were absent of people--! Which is great--The beaches that had people weren't crowded--Lifeguards were at all the beaches--Swimming must be pretty dangerous in many spots. In fact a man drowned when we were there--he was setting traps for fishing--and the current pulled him out to the ocean--Sad--We saw all the emergency trucks--and found out the next day what had happened!

On our way to Kauai

This is an older picture of Trenton, but I thought it was so cute, with his red hair!
Trenton's first day of school this year~

Anabeth says "cheese" when she sees you with the camera~

Just look at those wonderful chubby twiddle legs! Mom has wonderful milk!

Emmie's special Baptism towel--I thought this was such a cute idea--it's been passed from Christtina's family to Emmie, and next it'll be used for Mallorie & guess we'll have to make an additional one for Kolby!

Tomorrow morning bright & early we are headed for Kauai! Looking forward to the sound of the ocean waves, and the breezes! Not to mention the wonderful fruit & fish!
I thought I'd better post some pictures of our past trip, before I bore everyone with new pictures of the ocean!
Misha & Jeremy & the twins aren't moving to AZ after all~ Jeremy got a new position, and more money to stay in Idaho Falls~ Which is good for them, but I'm a little upset with the idea! I know they'll be hating it come snow time. And we'll all miss them--Kilee & Phillip's kids love their cousins so much! But since they didn't sell their house, I guess this is for the best!
Meanwhile, it looks like Kevin, Helen, Anabeth & Nolan are moving to AZ--Not sure yet when this will take place--But he too, got a better position with more money! With the economy the way it is, I'm thrilled with these plans! It'll be great having them here, so they can get to know their cousins & we can watch Nolan grow up! He's already getting fat little chubby legs, & seems to be a really good baby!

Emmie's Soccer Game

Emmie had a soccer game this morning, here in North Carolina, which her team lost! However, she's a good little player--really the only one on her team who hustles and gets the job done!! It was great getting to see her play! Bree, Brooks & Shirley's little girl watched and cheered Emmie on!

Mesa Verde National Park

Mesa Verde wasn't a National Park when I grew up--and the history was different. We were taught that the Indians that lived there, disappeared. They never found evidence of their cultural anywhere else. They just up and disappeared! No bones were found, which would have indicated war, or some disease that killed them off--Now that the park is a government "National Park" they have a totally different explanation! Perfect example of how they've tried to change our history! Nevertheless, I find it fun to visit and think about. How these Indians lived in these cliffs, or why for that matter remain a real mystery to me!

Happy Birthday Trenton

Today Trenton is 10 years old! We can't believe he is already this old---Where did the years go? I remember the day he was born, and how surprised we were that he was a little red head--He is the first in our family! He was the best baby, and by the time he was talking, could carry on a conversation with any adult! The first time he flew, he literally made eye contact with everyone on the plane--then he'd smile at them. Everyone commented what a wonderful baby he was to fly with!
He reminds me of my granny, who never met a stranger, and could talk your ears off! I love him, and miss him---Hate that he's living in Oregon, and so far away from all his cousins!

Labor Day

Just had to throw in a cute picture of Dane--Little Blue Berries~
The kids had a ball riding the 4-wheeler--Kora loved Uncle Jeremy--She was his girl most of the weekend~

Lonely in Colorado

Everyone has gone home~ Myrle & I are still wrapping things up here in Colorado. He claims there are still numerous things he "has" to do before we head back to AZ--I may just go back without him!
We enjoyed all the kids so much! Storie woke up this morning, and wanted to go back to Grandma's Colorado House! Misha & the twins left bright and early this morning, so she can be back in Idaho Falls for piano lessons this afternoon! She should make it fine--
We took the kids to Mesa Verde National Park--they are now Jr. Park Rangers! It's such a cute program for the kids--they fill out a booklet, as they visit the various ruins, and museum--then they swear them in, and give them a badge!
